Opened less than a year ago by owner and designer Jennifer Thomas, Jet is a gold mine of one of a kind, flattering and versatile fashion that is ideal for the eco-conscious Portlander. The line is designed in-house and manufactured in Portland. Garments are made with a variety of sustainable fibers such as soy, organic cotton, wool, and naturally produced bamboo. The designs are minimalist and extremely comfortable, so they can easily be dressed up with flashy jewelry or kept simple and chic. Maggie of Jet says the wrap sweater, “feels like a hug” and I have to agree. I tried on various pieces from the line and didn’t want to take any of it off because of how soft everything was. Jet also carries beautiful burnout tees by Alternative Apparel. The shoe selection is impeccable; most notable is LA-based line Cydwoq.
I found myself getting caught up in the playfulness of the store, hopping about, finding inspiration around every corner. Beautifully designed flasks are tucked into the shelves throughout the store like secret candy stashes. Play with buttery leather handbags from Bay Area-based line, Forty Nine Square Miles. Fluff at fancy feather accessories by Usanza of Hood River. Gander at the basketball-turned-handbag collection by Jonny Sport of Portland. This place will get all your creative juices going the second you walk in.
